Sycamore Valley Elementary

Danville

Through a competitive selection process that considered 5 different play equipment suppliers, the Sycamore Valley Elementary School PTA chose to work with Miracle Playsystems to replace their outdated and non-compliant playground in the summer of 2012.

Working with the PTA playground committee and the principal of Sycamore Elementary, Miracle Playsystems listened to the specific needs and requirements for the new play area that would serve 5-12 year olds on their upper play lot. The existing site constraints required us to fit a playground twice the size of the existing structure in order to meet the needs of the growing student population.

They also expressed the need for shade on the playground given the new structure would be out on the blacktop with no trees to offer a cool place to play on hot days.

Additionally, the Physical Education teacher wanted to use the play area for state required fitness testing which allowed us to get creative with many fun and exciting overhead climber events and pull up bars and a futuristic DNA climber which allows the kids to climb creatively and unconventionally… upside down.

Through this entire process we worked closely with the many voices of the PTA and constructed an exciting, fun and safe playground for the kids of Sycamore Valley Elementary that will serve the school and its community for years to come.
